The Road Transport Authority (RTA) office at Bandlaguda, in Hyderabad’s Old City, is in poor condition. Hundreds of people who visit the office face difficulties because the roads are filled with water and mud, especially after heavy rains. This makes it dangerous and challenging for visitors to reach the office. Additionally, the office lacks basic facilities for the applicants.

The south zone RTA office was moved from Kishanbagh to Bandlaguda in 2015. Even after almost ten years, the office still does not have proper amenities for visitors. The situation becomes worse when it rains, as the entire office area becomes muddy and difficult to access.

Visitors to the office have to walk through potholes filled with water and mud. The road conditions are terrible, and the license testing track is also in bad shape. There is no waiting area for people, forcing them to stand in the open during rain. One visitor, Mohamed Muzammil, shared that during heavy rain, applicants had to wait near a small shed because there was no proper waiting space.

The Hans India has been pointing out that the Bandlaguda RTA office lacks several essential facilities. There are no proper toilets, no separate restrooms for women, no waiting hall, no drinking water, and poor road access. The office also doesn’t have a proper boundary wall for security. Despite repeated complaints, no improvements have been made.

Social activist Mahmood Hussain Makke mentioned that the road leading to the office is full of potholes and muck. He also highlighted the lack of basic facilities, including restrooms, which causes a lot of inconvenience, especially for female visitors.

Women applicants have expressed their discomfort with the current washroom situation. One woman, Arti Neelam, said that women feel uncomfortable when men knock on the restroom door, as there is no separate space for them.

Mahmood further added that in February, Joint Commissioner C. Ramesh visited the RTA office and instructed the officers to provide basic facilities such as separate toilets for women and drinking water. However, nothing has been done so far.

    M. Dayanand, General Secretary of the Telangana State Auto and Motor Vehicle Association, pointed out that all 11 RTA offices in the twin cities lack separate washrooms for women. He also noted that there are no seating areas or other basic amenities for visitors, even though the transport department generates a lot of revenue for the government.
