Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, strongly criticized the police for using force against students protesting to protect Hyderabad Central University (HCU) lands.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Bandi Sanjay questioned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s actions. He asked whether the Chief Minister had any sense of humanity left, as students were being beaten like criminals for peacefully protesting. He also expressed outrage over reports of female students being dragged by their hair and assaulted by the police.

Bandi Sanjay accused the state government of selling public lands to raise money. He said that selling lands and taking loans should not be the only way to run the state. He even questioned whether the government cared about the future of the next generation, warning that such actions were damaging the state’s resources.

The Union Minister was at the BJP state office for a meeting with party leaders when he responded to questions from the media. He said that the lathi charge on students was heartbreaking and that anyone who saw it would feel emotional. He criticized Congress leaders for remaining silent and accused the Chief Minister of lacking basic compassion.

He also condemned how the police handled the protests. “How can you enter student rooms and beat them up?” he asked. Bandi Sanjay demanded that action be taken against the police officers involved and called for an immediate inquiry into the incident.

The Minister also questioned the silence of the Education Commission, asking why they had not spoken out about the issue. He suspected that some officials might be benefiting from the land deals and called on them to clarify their position.

Finally, Bandi Sanjay asked why there was a need to sell university lands in the first place. He said no one had the right to sell public property and that such decisions should not be made without public approval. He warned that if the government had been honest about selling lands before the elections, they would not have won. He demanded that the plan to auction HCU lands be canceled immediately and said the BJP stands with the protesting students.
