Protest Against Wakf Bill in Jogulamba Gadwal

Jogulamba Gadwal, March 1, 2025 – Awaaz State General Secretary Mohammad Abbas has called for the immediate withdrawal of the Wakf Bill introduced by the central government. He believes the bill threatens the rights of minority communities. Abbas raised his concerns at a seminar titled “Constitutional Protection – Public Discussion on the Wakf Bill,” held at the Valmiki Committee Hall in the district headquarters. The event was chaired by Atikur Rehman and was organized by an all-party group.

During his speech, Abbas criticized the central government for pushing the Wakf Bill in an authoritarian manner. He pointed out that the government ignored amendments suggested by opposition members in the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). He also accused the government of passing the bill without a proper democratic debate. Abbas urged intellectuals and activists to resist the government’s approach, which he claimed was dragging the country backward by enforcing unilateral policies.

He further alleged that the bill was introduced to create division and encourage communal politics. Abbas called for a united movement against the bill, urging all sections of society to come together. He also requested the Telangana State Government to pass a resolution in the Assembly opposing the bill and to send it to the central government.

Many prominent leaders attended the seminar, including Awaaz Union State Vice President MD Jabbar and Insaaf State Vice President Fayaz. Other notable participants were Nagar Doddi Venkataramulu, Madhusudhan Babu, legal expert Shafi Ullah, CPI(M) District Secretary A. Venkataswamy, CPI District Secretary B. Anjaneyulu, and Telangana Praja Front leaders Prabhakar and Isaac. Leaders from the Muslim Reservation Struggle Committee, such as Rahmatullah, Nasurullah, and Mahboob Ali, also took part. Additionally, social activists like Kurva Pallayya, Gopal Reddy, Sadutulla, Bhasha, Tower Maqbool, and Tahir Jamaluddin were present.

The seminar concluded with a strong demand to withdraw the Wakf Bill, reinforcing the participants’ commitment to protecting constitutional rights and resisting policies that could harm minority communities.
