The State Assembly will have a two-day session starting Wednesday, and it is expected to be very heated. The Government plans to present a white paper on the state’s economy to expose the previous government’s mistakes and how it led the state into debt. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikarmarka are working with others to analyze the state’s financial management over the past ten years and create a white paper that will be difficult for the opposing party to counter. They have consulted with former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan and other financial and irrigation experts. They are examining the expenditure on major projects like Kaleshwaram and Palamuru Rangareddy, looking into their viability, cost increases, and design changes during construction under the previous government. Various departments have been asked to provide details on schemes, expenditures, and capital expenditures for the past decade. The white paper will also include information on loans taken for irrigation projects, infrastructure development, and the sale and lease of government lands. Additionally, a report will be prepared to assess revenue increases from revenue-generating wings such as transport, excise and prohibition, commercial taxes, and stamps and registration. In response, the opposing party has assigned former finance minister T Harish Rao to effectively counter the government’s points. They argue that the ruling party’s white paper is an act of vindictiveness and that their government has been responsible in financial management.
