    Assembly pays tribute to late MLA G Sayanna from Cantonment

    The Telangana Assembly session on Thursday started by honoring the late Gaddam Sayanna, the MLA from Cantonment. Leaders from different political parties remembered his service to the people during his five terms as MLA. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and other leaders shared their memories with Sayanna and observed a two-minute mourning for him.

    G Sayanna, who was the MLA from Secunderabad Cantonment Constituency, passed away at the age of 72 after a brief illness. He had been serving as an MLA since 1994 and had only lost once in 2009. He is survived by his wife and three sons.

    Sayanna had been suffering from heart and kidney-related ailments in recent years. He was admitted to a private hospital on February 16 due to related health issues and unfortunately, his condition worsened, leading to his demise at around 1.50 p.m. His body was taken to his residence in Ashok Nagar.

    Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased MLA and remembered their long association. Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Council Chairman G Sukender Reddy also expressed their shock and sympathies.

    Gaddam Sayanna started his political career with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and later joined BRS (TRS) in February 2016. He was known for his non-controversial approach and was elected multiple times as an MLA. He had a diverse educational background, graduating in science, law, and arts. In the 2018 elections, he was elected on a BRS (TRS) ticket.
