Owing to technical problems in fulfilling the criteria of reservation, 520 out of 670 posts for Urdu teachers in Telangana will remain vacant. This adds to the backlog of 535 unfilled posts from the previous notification in 2017. Many qualified individuals are concerned about not being appointed despite their hard work.

In the 2017 notification, only 365 out of 900 posts for Urdu teachers were filled, as others were given to SC, ST, BC-A, BC-C, and BC-D candidates. An RTI reply revealed that of the 900 posts, only 365 were filled, leaving the rest vacant.

    Specifically, the SGT-Urdu, Language Pandit-Urdu, SA-Urdu, SA-Mathematics-Urdu, SA-Social-Urdu, SA-Biological Science-Urdu, SA-Physical Science-Urdu, and PET-Urdu positions remained unfilled.

Some students expressed their frustration to Education Minister T Sabitha Indra Reddy and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, urging them to address the issue. They demanded that SC/ST seats be de-reserved or that the vacancies be filled through a special/mega DSC. However, with the latest notification, 520 posts will remain vacant and will not be available to OC and BC (E) candidates.

Women, who make up the majority of aspirants, also highlighted the issue on social media. They called for the government to re-evaluate its decision and create an equal educational opportunity for Urdu medium students. The Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) warned that DSC aspirants may protest or take legal action if the government does not resolve the issue.

The SIO president stated that more than 500 Urdu medium DSC seats out of 670 will go unfilled due to reservation. They demanded that the government de-reserve the Urdu DSC and convert it to general category seats. The government initially promised 13,086 total DSC seats but the issued notification revealed only 5,089 seats in total, with only 670 for Urdu medium. Furthermore, most of the Urdu medium seats are reserved for candidates who are not eligible, leaving only around 140 available seats. This shortfall greatly affects the teacher-to-pupil ratio and discriminates against Urdu medium students.
