Ashada Bonalu | Mehendipatnam, June 21: The Telangana state festival Bonalu will begin from June 22nd, Thursday. The month of Ashada marks the beginning of Bonalu, with the first offering being dedicated to the goddess Jagadamba in the historical Golconda fort. These Bonalu celebrations hold great significance, attracting lakhs of devotees not only from two Telugu states but also from other states. They offer flowers and perform rituals to pay homage to the goddess.
Offering of clothes by the government…
The Bonalu festival will commence from Langar House Chourasta on Thursday. As is the tradition every year, ministers Indrakaran Reddy, Mahmood Ali, Talasani, and Shrinivas Yadav of the Jagadamba Temple Trust Board will present offerings of clothes at Langar House Chourasta. From there, the Bonalu procession will start and proceed through various routes, including Badabazar and Chotabazar, to reach the Golconda fort where the offerings will be made, completing the main puja. The priests from the temple in Bada Bazar will bring the jewelry for the goddess.

Hyderabad: The Bonalu festival will commence in the city from Thursday. In this regard, CP Sudheer Babu, Hyderabad Traffic Police Commissioner, informed that traffic will be diverted on routes leading to Golconda from 8 AM to 11 PM every day until the end of Bonalu. The Bonalu puja ceremonies will take place on June 22nd, 25th, 29th, July 2nd, 6th, 9th, 13th, 16th, and 20th. Commuters are advised to take alternate routes, such as the Makki Darwaza route from Ramdevguda to Golconda fort, Fathedarwaza route from Langar House to Golconda, and Banjara Darwaza route from Seven Tombs.
Parking spaces for devotees coming for Bonalu…
Vehicles coming from Ramdevguda via Asurkhana can park at Military Sentry Point, while two-wheelers and three-wheelers can park at HUDA parks. Four-wheelers can park at OVC Ground and Putt Ball Ground from Langar House. Vehicles coming from Sheikpet and Seven Tombs can park at Priyadarshini School, Area Hospital, and Basstopula.
