Asaduddin Owaisi, the president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and the current Hyderabad MP, filed his nomination papers on Friday in the presence of numerous supporters. He disclosed moveable assets worth Rs 2.80 crore and declared five pending cases against him. Additionally, his affidavit stated immovable assets amounting to Rs 16.01 crore, with his spouse owning assets worth Rs 4.90 crore, along with liabilities of Rs 4.30 crore.
Asad submitted his nomination documents to contest in the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency, with the election scheduled for May 13. He was joined by his son, senior party leaders, MLAs, corporators, and other supporters during the nomination rally. Prior to filing his papers, Asad Owaisi participated in traditional Paidal Daura in various areas of Bahadurpura and offered Friday prayers at Mecca Masjid.
The AIMIM leader has won the Hyderabad seat four times consecutively since 2004. His affidavit also revealed ownership of residential properties in Mailardevpally, one in his name and another in his wife’s name. Asad Owaisi holds a Bar-At-Law and LLB qualification from Lincoln’s Inn, London. He raised concerns about alleged provocative actions by a BJP candidate towards a mosque during a recent procession, questioning the silence of authorities.
In the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency, other candidates like Gaddam Srinivas from BRS and an independent candidate named Mohammed Ali Khan also filed their nominations. In the 08-Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat, six candidates including BJP’s G Kishan Reddy submitted their nomination papers on Friday.
