Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has dismissed claims made by right-wing groups on social media about his supposed Hindu Brahmin lineage. He found it amusing that they were trying to create a false narrative about his ancestry. Owaisi believes that these claims are a way for the right wing to portray the democratic struggle for equal rights and citizenship of Muslims as “Hinduphobia.”
Owaisi shared his thoughts on social media, stating that it is always amusing to him how right-wingers feel the need to fabricate a Brahmin ancestor for him. He believes that everyone should be held accountable for their own actions and that we are all descendants of Adam and Hawa. For him, the fight for equal rights and citizenship of Muslims is a battle for the soul of modern India, not an attack on Hinduism.
Owaisi responded to a post made on Saturday by an account with over 22,000 followers. The account claimed that Owaisi’s great-grandfather was a Hindu Brahmin named Tulsiramdas. The post also mentioned other prominent Muslim leaders with alleged Hindu ancestry. Owaisi dismissed these claims as baseless.
