The Air Force Academy in Dundigal, Hyderabad is where cadets of the flying and ground duty branches and technical officers of the Indian Air Force receive their training. The Autumn Term 2023 began in July this year. After joining the academy, the Flight Cadets are divided into six squadrons. Throughout their training, various competitions are organized to promote camaraderie, leadership, and sportsmanship.
The inter-squadron drill competition is the final competition in the training schedule at AFA. The flight cadets showcased a remarkable march-past synchronized with martial tunes played by the IAF band. Air Marshal S Shrinivas, Commandant of AFA, presented trophies to the winners of the different competitions. The Aquino Squadron emerged as the winner of the inter-squadron drill competition.
The “Commandant’s Banner” is awarded to the squadron based on their overall performance in various inter-squadron competitions, including sports, debate, quiz, cross country, drill, and academics. The winning squadron is known as the “Champion Squadron,” and its cadets have the privilege of wearing a lanyard on their right shoulder during the next semester.
During a ceremony at AFA, Air Marshal S Shrinivas presented the coveted “Commandant’s Banner” for Autumn Term 2023 to Prachi Sharma, the Squadron Cadet Adjutant (SCA). This was a moment of immense pride and achievement for the cadets of the Aquino Squadron.
