    APSRTC bus crashes into platform at Vijayawada bus station, leaving three dead and multiple injured

    Three people were killed and several injured in a bus accident at Pandit Nehru Bus Stand in Vijayawada. An APSRTC bus bound for Guntur crashed into platform number 12 when it was supposed to reverse. As a result, passengers waiting on the platform were hit by the bus and three people died, including a bus conductor, a baby, and a woman.

    The injured passengers were immediately taken to a nearby hospital by RTC officials. The accident was attributed to a brake failure and caused damage to furniture and fencing on platforms 11 and 12. The deceased were sent to New Government General Hospital for postmortem. More information about the incident is still awaited.

    APSRTC managing director Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao expressed his condolences and promised a thorough investigation within 24 hours to hold those responsible accountable. The RTC will provide Rs 5 lakh compensation to the families of the victims and cover the medical expenses of the injured.

    Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of Andhra Pradesh expressed his sadness over the loss of lives and announced Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia for the bereaved families. He also instructed officials to provide assistance to the injured individuals.
