Hyderabad: Frustration Over Long Wait Times at Uppal RTA Office
Hundreds of applicants at the Uppal RTA office in Hyderabad are facing long delays due to issues with the camera system used for processing transport-related services. Out of six cameras available at the office, only one is operational, causing significant frustration among visitors.
The cameras are used to process various documents and applications, including registration certificates (RCs), driving licenses (DLs), duplicate licenses, and other transport-related transactions. However, applicants reported that most cameras have been out of service for several days, creating a major bottleneck in the workflow.
“The delays are unbearable,” said Katari Venkatesh, one of the applicants waiting in line. He explained that the malfunctioning cameras have led to long queues and chaotic conditions, with people crowding the counters to check the status of their applications. Many applicants complained that they had to wait for hours, missing other important commitments due to the slow process.
Another applicant expressed disappointment with the lack of communication from the staff. “We don’t even know how long we have to wait because no one is providing clear updates,” they said. The delays have left many applicants dissatisfied with the quality of service at the office.
M. Dayanand, general secretary of the Telangana State Auto and Motor Vehicle Association, criticized the situation. He pointed out that, according to transport rules, every counter should have a functioning camera. However, the Uppal RTA office is currently operating with only one, forcing applicants to endure prolonged wait times.
Dayanand urged the authorities to take immediate action. “The RTA must repair the non-functioning cameras or install additional units to address this issue. The public cannot be left to suffer like this,” he said. He also noted that the office does not have separate queues for women and senior citizens, adding to the inconvenience.
In comparison, other RTA offices such as Khairtabad, Secunderabad, Ibrahimpatnam, and Medchal are better equipped, with enough cameras to handle transactions efficiently. Dayanand emphasized that similar improvements need to be made at the Uppal RTA office to prevent further delays and frustration.
