The Election Commission of India has asked the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh to transfer Director General of Police KV Rajendranath Reddy immediately. The DGP should hand over his duties to the next officer in rank and should not be involved in any election-related tasks until the completion of the Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
The commission also requested a list of three eligible IPS officers of DG rank to be submitted by May 6, 2024, along with their performance ratings for the past five years and clearance from Vigilance.
This decision was made to ensure smooth functioning during the upcoming elections.
