The Telangana State Government has launched two new bureaus to combat drug trafficking and cybercrime. The Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSNAB) will be located on the 12th and 13th floors of Tower-B of TSPICCC, while the Telangana State Cyber Security Bureau will be located on the second and third floors. Both bureaus were launched by Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali and Cabinet colleague V Srinivas Goud, as well as senior police officials.
The new director of TSNAB, CV Anand, explained that the bureau is made up of highly skilled officers who will carry out vigilant surveillance, multi-jurisdiction investigations, prosecution, and coordination with local, state, and national agencies to dismantle drug cartels and illicit trafficking. The government has sanctioned 300 posts for the bureau, which has three main arms: a head office, four narcotics police stations, and seven regional narcotics control cells that include 26 Narcotics Enforcement Wings in commissionerates and districts.
During the launch event, dignitaries were informed about H-NEW (of HCP), which has apprehended local peddlers, inter-state gangs, and international peddlers who have been deported. Awareness campaigns have been launched, drug rehabilitation services have been strengthened, and control on precursor chemicals and anti-drug committees in colleges have paid good dividends. The sidelines of the event included a display of modern gadgets and drills by Narcotics detection dogs.
DGP Anjani Kumar stated that all these new pillars will interplay with each other and contribute to the safety of the state and country. Other senior bureaucrats were also present at the launch event.
