The Roads and Buildings department has announced that Rs.32 crore has been allocated for repairing the road between Kurnool and Mantralayam. This decision was made after a public interest litigation was filed in the High Court, highlighting the difficulties faced by people due to the worn-out road. The petitioner, a resident of Kurnool district, stated that the condition of the road was so bad that buses and ambulances were unable to travel on it, causing hardships for students and elders. In October 2023, the Court ordered the R&B department to stop lorries from using the road as they were further damaging it and directed the government to allocate funds for repairs. The court has adjourned the matter to determine if tender notifications for the work have been called for.
