An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) in Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, was disciplined for neglecting his duty and making a person dance while drunk. The incident took place in Sankarapuram, where two rival groups had clashed recently, leading to injuries to three youths. To address the tension, a police picket was stationed in the area.

The ASI, a member of the picket, left his post and went to the village outskirts to drink alcohol. A video emerged showing a person dancing to music played on the ASI’s phone. The incident was recorded by someone present and went viral on social media.
