Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the Telangana Government for its strong actions to control Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in the state. During a meeting with the Chief Ministers of states affected by Maoist activities, Amit Shah expressed interest in learning more about Telangana’s ongoing efforts to tackle this issue.
Amit Shah commended the state government for reducing the Naxal (Maoist) threat, especially in the border districts of Chhattisgarh. These areas, including the former Khammam, Warangal, and Adilabad districts, were previously heavily impacted by extremist activities.
Telangana’s Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, along with the Director General of Police (DGP) Dr. Jitendar, explained the state’s strategy to combat Maoist activities. They highlighted efforts to keep young people away from extremist ideologies. The DGP also informed Amit Shah about the increased surveillance in areas affected by Maoists and the steps taken to stop the movement of Naxals from neighboring states.
Officials said that Amit Shah was impressed with Telangana’s approach to eliminating Maoist activities. He also appreciated the special training provided to security forces operating in the forests to track extremist movements. The meeting also discussed the state’s work in educating tribal communities about the benefits of mainstream life.
