The opposition parties BJP and BRS did not attend an all-party meeting called by the Telangana government. The meeting was meant to gather political support to pressure the central government for approvals and funding on pending projects such as the Metro, Outer Ring Road (ORR), and Regional Ring Road. It also aimed to address issues related to the AP State Reorganisation Act. Since key parties were absent, the government has decided to hold another meeting soon.
Union Minister and state BJP president G. Kishan Reddy explained that the BJP skipped the meeting because they were not informed in advance. He stated that BJP leaders discuss such meetings internally before deciding who should attend and what issues to raise.
On the other hand, the BRS criticized the state government for acting too late. BRS leaders pointed out that the Union Budget had already been announced and did not allocate enough funds for Telangana. They felt that holding meetings at this stage would not be very useful.
Among all political parties, only AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi attended the meeting. In response, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced that the government would organize another meeting soon. He urged all MPs to cooperate with the government on these issues.
The Deputy CM also said that the Congress party would bring up the issue of pending projects during the second phase of the budget session. He called on MPs from all parties to raise concerns with the central government.
After the meeting, he informed the media that 28 key issues were discussed. These included Metro Rail Phase-2, the Musi Rejuvenation Project, the Regional Ring Road, the Bayyaram Steel Plant, and various promises made under the AP Reorganisation Act.
