During the celebrations, Principal U. Mahender spoke to the gathering. He extended his warm wishes for Dussehra and Bathukamma to all students and teachers. He explained that Dussehra teaches us an important lesson — that good always wins over evil. He added that the festival symbolizes hope and the victory of truth and righteousness.

The principal also mentioned that Dussehra is celebrated in many ways across India. For example, in North India, people build large effigies of Ravana, the demon king, which are burned with fireworks to mark the victory of good over evil. This fills the skies with celebration.

Dussehra is one of the most important festivals for Hindus. It is celebrated over ten days, with the final day known as Vijayadashami. The festival honors the divine power of Shakti and is also called Navaratri. Many people dedicate the first three days to Goddess Parvati, the next three to Goddess Lakshmi, and the last three to Goddess Saraswati. A popular tradition during this festival is displaying dolls, called Bommala Koluvu, at homes and temples.

On the tenth day, called Vijayadashami, Dussehra marks the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana. This day is also remembered for the Pandavas retrieving their weapons after their exile. In addition, Goddess Durga’s victory over the demon Mahishasura after nine nights of battle is celebrated.

In Telangana, Bathukamma is celebrated along with Dussehra. Women dress in silk garments and take part in the celebrations. Principal U. Mahender highlighted that the festival brings together different traditions and rituals, and its cultural significance is felt throughout the country.

In conclusion, the celebrations at Akshara High School were a vibrant display of culture and tradition. Both students and teachers enjoyed the festivities, making it a memorable event for everyone involved.
