The Singareni Collieries Workers Union (AITUC) has announced its support for a Padayatra (protest march) from Goleti to Kothagudem. This march is being undertaken by workers who have been affected by vigilance and alias cases in Singareni, demanding a resolution to their problems.

During a protest in front of the Singareni head office, AITUC Central Vice President Vanga Venkat criticized both the State government and the company management for failing to address the long-standing issues of these workers. He pointed out that despite multiple protests over the years, no proper action has been taken.

Venkat highlighted that the affected families are facing serious financial troubles due to the lack of jobs, pensions, and other financial support. He blamed the Congress government for not taking any meaningful steps even after completing a year in power.

He also reminded people that the previous BRS government had made promises to solve these issues but later ignored them. This, he said, led to the BRS party’s defeat in all coal belt MLA seats during the 2023 Assembly elections. He warned that the Congress government is now making the same mistake by neglecting the workers’ concerns.

Venkat urged the coal belt MLAs to step in and bring the issue to the State government’s attention. He demanded immediate steps to provide jobs to the affected workers in Singareni.
