    French aerospace company Airbus has teamed up with Tata Group-owned Air India to establish a pilot training center in Gurugram, Haryana. The joint venture, called Tata Airbus Training Centre, is set to open by early 2025 and will provide A320 and A350 flight training to around 5,000 pilots over the next decade.

    Spanning across 3,300 square meters, the center will initially have four A320 Full Flight Stimulators (FFS) and a total of 10 FFS, along with flight training classrooms and briefing and debriefing rooms. The courses offered at the center will be approved by India’s DGCA and the European aviation safety regulator, EASA.

    Airbus will collaborate with GMR Aero Technic to provide training material, including trainee handbooks, an examination database, and online access to customized training modules. Additionally, Airbus will train GMR instructors and continually assess the training center.

    India is currently the fastest-growing aviation market globally and will require 41,000 pilots and 47,000 technicians in the next 20 years to support this growth. The pilot training center with Air India and the maintenance training partnership with GMR highlight Airbus’ commitment to fostering human capital development. Airbus aims to ensure that the Indian aviation industry’s expansion is supported by a skilled workforce.

    Remi Maillard, President and Managing Director for Airbus India and South Asia, emphasized that Airbus is investing directly in training capabilities to ensure a sufficient supply of skilled manpower for the Indian aviation sector’s growth.
