Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) released a Telugu campaign song called ‘Baileli Vasthunadu’ to attract voters, especially those who speak Telugu. This move shows AIMIM’s efforts to connect with voters in Telangana, where the Telugu language is important. The party released a six-minute music video sung by Nalgonda Gaddar Narsanna, highlighting the achievements of its leader, Asaduddin Owaisi, who is running for a fifth term in the upcoming elections.
The music video, released on Sunday, features footage of Owaisi’s activities in his constituency, interactions with people from different communities, and unique moments like flying a kite, which is AIMIM’s election symbol. The song emphasizes how Owaisi serves people regardless of their religion or caste. It also shows Hindus, including temple committee members, welcoming Owaisi during his visits to the ancient city, and non-Muslims meeting him at the party headquarters to discuss their concerns.
This is the second time AIMIM has released a Telugu song for its campaign. In November last year, they released a song called ‘Bahujanam’ for the Telangana Assembly elections. AIMIM has never lost an election in Hyderabad since 1984 when Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, Asaduddin Owaisi’s father, was first elected. Asaduddin Owaisi entered the Lok Sabha in 2004 when his father stepped down due to health reasons. This time, he is expected to face a tough competition from BJP’s K Madhavi Latha.
In addition to Owaisi, the Bahujan Republican Socialist Party (BRS) has nominated Gaddam Srinivas Yadav, and Congress has chosen Sameer Waliullah as their candidate for the elections on May 13 in Telangana.
