Gadwal: A. Narmada, the district secretary of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), has called for urgent improvements in government hospitals in the district. On Monday, she submitted a petition to the District Collector, emphasizing the need for better services and facilities in these hospitals.

The petition is based on a 15-day survey conducted by AIDWA. This survey examined the conditions of hospitals in different mandals and the district hospital. The results showed many serious problems.

One major issue is the shortage of beds, especially at the Gattu mandal center hospital, which also serves patients from the neighboring KT doddi mandal. Narmada asked for the hospital to be expanded to 30 beds. The survey also found that the construction of a protective wall at Maldakal was substandard and incomplete.

Other problems include a lack of doctors, nurses, DEOs, lab technicians, proper medicines, and nutrition kits. Many mandal hospitals also lack ANMs, functioning bathrooms, and a reliable water supply.

With the rainy season starting, there is a higher risk of diseases like malaria, typhoid, and cholera. This makes it even more important to address these issues quickly.

People involved in submitting the petition included Lalita, Padmavathi, Venkateswari, Radha, Krishna Veni, Kalavathi, and others.
