Congress Appoints Meenakshi Natarajan as State In-Charge
All eyes are now on Meenakshi Natarajan, the newly appointed Congress State in-charge. She was recommended for the position by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. Her main challenges include improving coordination among different party factions, restructuring the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), and filling vacant nominated posts.
Meenakshi has a strong background in the party. She previously served as the president of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and has also held key positions such as Member of Parliament, AICC secretary, and president of the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan. Many believe she is capable of resolving internal party conflicts effectively.
Her predecessor, Deepa Das Munshi, played an important role during the elections. However, after the Congress came to power, internal disagreements increased, and she struggled to manage them. A recent secret meeting by some MLAs further embarrassed her and the party.
Meanwhile, many Congress members hoping for positions in PCC committees and nominated posts are becoming anxious. They fear that the appointment process will be delayed further. Now that Meenakshi is in charge, the selection of candidates for different positions will be reviewed again.
One aspirant for a nominated post expressed mixed feelings about the situation. “I have worked hard for years and was hopeful of getting a post. But with a new in-charge now handling the process, we will have to wait and see. Still, I remain optimistic that our efforts will be rewarded,” he said.
As Meenakshi takes on her new role, both party members and political observers will be watching closely to see how she handles the challenges and unites the Congress leadership in the state.
