Efforts by the Telangana State Directorate of Sainik Welfare have helped a widow receive her monetary allowance. Sergeant PVNR Prasad, who served in the Indian Air Force, sacrificed his life during the Kargil War in May 1999. He was awarded the Vayusena Medal for his bravery. However, his wife, Anuradha, never received any official notification or letter about the monetary allowance for the medal.
Colonel Ramesh Kumar discovered this oversight while researching gallantry award winners online. He reached out to Anuradha, who was unaware of the allowance. Colonel Kumar then took up the matter with the Indian Air Force Headquarters and expedited the process. On July 17, the Pension Payment Order for the monetary allowance was approved. The amount, along with arrears, will be credited to Anuradha’s bank account soon. She will also receive the monthly amount along with her pension.
This sanction of monthly assistance comes just before the 24th Kargil Day Vijay Diwas on July 26.
