    The State government of Telangana has appointed Suryadevara Prasanna Kumar as an adviser to the Telangana legislature secretariat. This appointment aims to improve the efficiency of the Assembly secretariat. Kumar has 30 years of experience in various government positions, including 15 years in top constitutional offices. He has expertise in executive, legislature, and judiciary. His selection was made by Legislative Council chairman G Sukhender Reddy and Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, following Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s emphasis on the need for positive changes in legislative affairs.

    Kumar has previously worked as an officer on special duty to the Lok Sabha Speaker. He has coordinated with the media to provide information about Parliament affairs as directed by the past speaker. He played a crucial role in launching the Lok Sabha TV channel under the speaker’s leadership. Additionally, he has served as a joint director and director in the office of the President and chairman of the Rajya Sabha.

    Previously, Kumar worked as the secretary to the Legislative Assembly of Delhi for nearly three years. During his tenure, he introduced professionalism into the secretariat and initiated significant reforms in the functioning of the legislature. He has also worked as an OSD and Registrar in the office of the Chief Justice of India and the Registry of the Supreme Court.

    In his early career, Kumar served as a newscaster in Telugu with the public service broadcaster and held administrative responsibilities in the news services division of All India Radio. He is originally from Khammam district and studied in various government institutions there before completing his science degree from Silver Jubilee Government Residential College, Kurnool. He later obtained an MSc and MPhil in environmental sciences from Jawaharlal Nehru University and a law degree from the University of Delhi.
