Hyderabad: Some private hospitals and RMPs (Registered Medical Practitioners) in the city and surrounding districts have been accused of falsely claiming money from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) by submitting fake bills. The police have taken action by filing cases against these hospitals.

The issue came to light when hospitals in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy district submitted documents to the CMRF office, stating that they had treated patients and were claiming money for it. However, during police verification, these documents were found to be fake.

Sources revealed that the police are now carefully reviewing all applications submitted for CMRF assistance. If there is any suspicion, they are thoroughly investigating by contacting the concerned hospitals to verify the authenticity of the claims. Recently, several cases were registered against individuals and hospitals involved in this fraudulent activity. It is believed that some hospitals, with the help of private individuals, created fake bills for treatments that were never provided.

The Telangana Crime Investigation Department (CID) recently arrested two individuals in connection with the CMRF scam. The arrested persons are Gotti Giri, a 46-year-old RMP at Chanikya Hospital in Miryalaguda, and Aleki Reddy Saidi Reddy, a 40-year-old supervisor at Naveena Multi Speciality Hospital, also in Miryalaguda.

The CID has registered six cases against hospitals across the state related to this scam. During the investigation, it was revealed that these two suspects were involved in fraud in the Nalgonda area. The police found that the applications they submitted included fake CMRF bills created using fraudulent documents.

These individuals also forged rubber stamps of doctors and hospitals, charging Rs 4,000 per application. They submitted 19 fake applications under the names of two hospitals, including Amma Hospital in Nalgonda and Naveena Multi Speciality Hospital in Miryalaguda, according to CID officials. Some of the city hospitals named in the FIR include Sri Krishna Hospital in Saidabad, Aruna Sree Multi Speciality Hospital at IS Sadan X Road, Janani Hospital in Saidabad, and MMV Indira Multi Speciality Hospital in Kothapet.

The Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) is meant to help poor people who are in distress due to health problems requiring expensive treatment, loss of family members, loss of property, or loss of livelihood due to unforeseen events like natural disasters or accidents.

Officials have stated that the investigation into these cases will continue to identify other individuals involved in the scam. So far, the CID has booked cases against 26 private hospitals for illegally claiming CMRF funds, with cases registered in Karimnagar, Mahabubabad, and Nalgonda districts.
