Telangana Government Issues Guidelines to Improve Education in State Schools

The Telangana government has introduced new guidelines to enhance the quality of education, infrastructure, and overall functioning of government-run schools and hostels. These include Government Residential Schools, Gurukuls, KGBVs (Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas), residential schools for girls, and other government schools. The responsibility for overseeing these improvements has been assigned to the Additional Collectors (local bodies) in each district.

Under the new guidelines, regular monitoring of all these institutions will be conducted. This includes evaluating infrastructure, academic standards, and the facilities provided to students. The guidelines also cover the procurement of provisions and ensuring compliance with standardized diets for students. To ensure close supervision, the Additional Collectors are required to stay at least one night every two weeks in hostels or residential schools, with extra attention given to schools located in remote and underserved areas.

Additionally, the Additional Collectors must submit monthly progress reports to the District Collector and the respective departments managing these schools and hostels. To ensure the effective implementation of these measures, District Collectors will hold monthly review meetings. These meetings will include the Additional Collectors, district officials, and the heads of institutions like Residential Schools, Gurukuls, and hostels.
