The Andhra Pradesh High Court has postponed the bail petition hearing for J Srinivas Rao, who is accused in the Kodi Kathi case attack on Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The hearing has been rescheduled for November 15, 2023.
J Srinu had filed a bail petition in the High Court, and the NIA Court’s advocate filed a counter petition. After listening to both sides’ arguments, the High Court decided to continue the bail petition hearing on November 15. J Srinu’s lawyers also informed the court that he has been in jail for the past four-and-a-half years.
In 2018, J Srinu allegedly attacked YS Jagan, who was the opposition leader at the time, in the VIP lounge of the Visakhapatnam airport. It is worth mentioning that the Andhra Pradesh High Court had canceled the bail granted to Srinivasa Rao by the NIA Court in July 2019.
Srinivasa Rao has appealed to the NIA Court multiple times for relief in this case. In July 2023, he even wrote a letter to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court requesting his release from jail. However, there has been no response from the Supreme Court regarding his plea.
