In Hyderabad, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested the Rangareddy District Joint Collector and a senior assistant. The senior assistant was caught taking a bribe of Rs 8 lakh on behalf of the Joint Collector.
The senior assistant, Y Madan Mohan Reddy, demanded this bribe from J Muthyam Reddy, who lives in Balapur. The bribe was to remove 14 guntas of land owned by J Muthyam Reddy from the ‘prohibited list’ on the Dharani website.
The ACB found the Rs 8 lakh bribe in Mohan Reddy’s car, and chemical tests showed that he had handled the money.
During questioning, Mohan Reddy revealed that he asked for the bribe on behalf of the Joint Collector, M V Bhoopal Reddy. After receiving the money, Mohan Reddy called Bhoopal Reddy and informed him. Bhoopal Reddy instructed him to meet at Pedda Amberpet ORR to hand over the bribe.
At around 10:41 pm, Bhoopal Reddy arrived at the meeting point in his official vehicle. He met Mohan Reddy, who gave him the bribe money, which Bhoopal Reddy then placed in his car. This money was later recovered from his Innova car by ACB officials.
Both officers have been arrested and taken to court. The investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
