AAP MLAs in the Delhi Assembly have brought up the issue of alleged harassment of students at Delhi University’s Indraprastha College for Women. The party has blamed the Lieutenant Governor for the “poor” law and order situation in the national capital. The BJP members, on the other hand, wanted to discuss the issue of corruption, including the now-repealed excise policy. However, the Speaker did not allow it as it had already been discussed. AAP MLA Bhavna Gaur raised concerns about women’s security and law and order in light of Tuesday’s incident where several men scaled the college walls and harassed students. Speaker Ram Niwas Goel requested BJP members to leave the House if they did not want to participate in the discussion on women’s security and law and order in Delhi. When they refused, four of them were marshalled out. The Speaker highlighted the seriousness of the issue and questioned whether women’s security did not matter to them, given that the college is located close to the Vidhan Sabha, the chief minister’s residence, and right under the nose of the Raj Niwas.
