Telangana State Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari has appointed 10 IAS officers to monitor drinking water situation in 32 districts. The officials will oversee both rural and urban areas in their assigned districts, ensuring a steady supply of drinking water to all households until the end of July.
These special officers have been directed to work closely with district Collectors and state-level departments, without taking any leaves during this period. Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari emphasized the importance of addressing any management errors and ensuring continuous water supply, especially in villages and towns.
She assured that despite the lack of rainfall, there is no need to worry about drinking water supply as the main reservoirs in the state are at satisfactory levels. The Summer Action Plan has already been implemented, with appropriate funds released to districts for necessary repairs and maintenance.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy mentioned that emergency pumping from reservoirs will be initiated after the second week of April. While Hyderabad Metro Water Supply officials confirmed sufficient water supply in the city, commercial demand remains high.
In order to address any administrative deficiencies and respond to media reports on water issues, Collectors have been instructed to take immediate action. Special measures will be taken to ensure timely completion of all works related to the Summer Action Plan, focusing on operation and maintenance.
