    A Guide to Promoting Wildlife and Forest Cover at Pocharam: Step-by-Step Instructions

    Efforts to promote wildlife and forest cover at Pocharam, located on the border of Medak and Kamareddy districts, are underway. District Collector Rajarshi Sha recently visited the Pocharam forest and met with officials from various departments including irrigation, revenue, forests and tourism. During his visit, he examined the extent of irrigation and revenue lands in the districts.

    As part of the efforts to promote tourism in the area, eight acres of revenue lands in Medak district and 15 acres in Kamareddy district will be handed over to the Tourism department. The department will then build cottages, convention centers, and toilets to attract tourists. Additionally, facilities such as parking, lighting, boating, trekking and adventure games will be provided jointly by the Forest and Tourism departments.

    The guest house spread over three acres in Kamareddy district and its adjoining areas will also be developed to attract more tourists. Under the USAID Forest Plus 2.0 programme, bio-toilets will be set up.

    During the visit, Forest Plus regional director Sailu gave a presentation on the programmes being taken up to promote environment protection and nature education camps.

    The district collector was accompanied by additional collector Ramesh, Tourism department OSD Satyanarayana, Irrigation SE Yesaih, Kamareddy SE Vidyavati, EE Srinivas Rao, DFO Raviprasad, RDO Sairam, Havelighanpur tahsildar Naveen Kumar, and FRO Manoj.
