The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has called for a bandh (shutdown) at Osmania University on Monday. This protest is in response to the university’s decision to ban demonstrations on campus.

On Sunday, ABVP student activists expressed their opposition by burning copies of the administration’s circular at the Arts College. They believe the ban on protests is unfair and restricts students’ rights.

Jeevan, an ABVP national executive member and Telangana Universities coordinator, strongly criticized the university’s decision. He called the circular undemocratic and accused the Vice Chancellor of acting in an authoritarian manner.

He also pointed out that Osmania University has played a key role in major movements, including the Telangana statehood agitation. According to Jeevan, the administration is trying to silence students who want to speak out about important issues like lack of funds, faculty recruitment, poor education quality, and bad food standards.

ABVP has demanded that the university withdraw the circular within 24 hours. If this does not happen, they have warned that they will organize a larger protest called the “Chalo Assembly” programme.
