The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for Telangana for the next two days. Temperatures in at least five districts are expected to rise between 41 to 44 degrees Celsius.
An orange alert has been issued for Adilabad, Jagitial, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, and Rajanna Sircilla districts. These areas are likely to experience extreme heatwave conditions.
For the rest of Telangana, a yellow alert has been announced. The maximum temperature in these regions is expected to range between 36 to 40 degrees Celsius.
On Sunday, temperatures crossed 40 degrees Celsius in 22 out of 33 districts in the state. Asifabad in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district recorded the highest temperature at 42.4 degrees Celsius.
According to the Telangana Development Planning Society, places like Neradigonda in Adilabad, Mandamarri in Mancherial, and Veernapalle in Rajanna Sircilla recorded temperatures of 41.5 degrees Celsius.
The weather department predicts that dry conditions will continue in Telangana until March 20. Some areas may experience mist or hazy conditions in the mornings for the next three days.
There is no major change expected in temperatures in the next two days. However, a slight drop in temperatures may occur afterward. On March 21, some parts of Telangana may receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers.
In Hyderabad, the IMD has predicted a partly cloudy sky for the next 24 hours. Mist or haze is likely in the morning. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 38 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may be around 23 degrees Celsius. Surface winds are expected to be southeasterly with speeds of 4-6 kmph.
