Hyderabad authorities have put special measures in place for Holi, which falls during the holy month of Ramzan this year. To maintain peace, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has ordered the closure of slaughterhouses and beef shops. Additionally, the police have issued strict rules to prevent people from forcing others to participate in Holi celebrations.

GHMC Commissioner K. Ilambarithi has directed that all cattle slaughterhouses and beef shops remain closed on March 14. This decision aims to promote communal harmony, especially in areas with a large Muslim population, like the Old City. The GHMC has instructed officials to cooperate with municipal staff to ensure the order is followed.

Meanwhile, the police commissioners of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda have put restrictions in place to prevent public disturbances during Holi. These rules will be in effect from 6 pm on March 13 to 6 am on March 15. The goal is to stop non-consensual celebrations and reckless behavior that could cause trouble.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand emphasized that celebrations should respect personal boundaries. He warned that any harassment under the pretense of celebration would be dealt with firmly. The police have stated that violating these rules could lead to prosecution under the law.

Additionally, the Cyberabad police have ordered the closure of bars and wine shops on March 14. Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty announced that all wine and toddy shops, as well as bars attached to restaurants, must remain closed from 6 am to 6 pm that day.

These measures have been taken to ensure that Holi celebrations do not disturb public peace and that all communities can observe their traditions without inconvenience.
