Hyderabad-based company Azad Engineering has opened a new advanced manufacturing facility for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) in Tunikibollaram. The facility covers 7,200 square metres and will help boost India’s role in high-precision engineering. It also strengthens Telangana’s reputation as a hub for advanced manufacturing.

The plant currently employs 200 skilled workers but plans to hire more in the coming months. It is equipped with the latest technology and will produce complex parts needed for advanced gas and thermal power turbine engines. The facility is also connected to Azad’s Centre for Excellence and Innovation, which will help improve research and high-end manufacturing.

During the inauguration, Azad Engineering’s Chairman and CEO, Rakesh Chopdar, spoke about the importance of the new plant. He mentioned that this is the first of many dedicated facilities the company is setting up to meet the growing demand from global clients. Once all facilities are fully operational, Azad plans to employ over 2,000 skilled professionals.

This launch marks an important step in Azad’s long-term partnership with MHI, which began in 2012 with just a few machines. To further strengthen this collaboration, Azad signed a Long-Term Contract & Price Agreement (LTCPA) with MHI on November 3, 2024. In recognition of Azad’s contributions, MHI awarded the company the “Partner of the Year 2024” certificate and trophy.

Mr. Ranjan praised Azad’s efforts and said the company is playing a key role in improving India’s and Telangana’s position in the global precision engineering sector.

With this new facility, Azad Engineering continues to drive innovation and strengthen India’s presence in the global supply chain for high-precision components.
