A man was caught trying to travel with a fake Indian passport at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on Monday night. Immigration officials stopped him after they found something suspicious about his documents.
The passenger, identified as Shankar, is a construction worker from Narsapur in Nirmal district. He had been working in a Gulf country for the past six years.
Reports suggest that Shankar used a forged passport to return to India. He arrived on an Indigo Airlines flight, and his travel documents were checked at the immigration counter.
Officials discovered that agents had created the fake passport and booked his flight tickets. Once they confirmed the forgery, they immediately informed the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) police.
Shankar was detained, and the RGIA police have started an investigation into the incident. Authorities are now looking into how the fake passport was made and who was involved.
