Maoist Violence Hurts Innocent Tribals, Says SP
Kothagudem District Superintendent of Police (SP) Rohith Raju has criticized the leaders of the banned CPI Maoist party for committing violent acts. In a statement on Sunday, he said that the Maoists were trying to create fear among innocent tribal people living in agency areas. According to him, they were planting explosives in places where tribals usually go to earn their living, putting their lives in danger.
A recent incident highlights this issue. Three days ago, a man named Kunjam Pandey from Rampur village in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district was returning from the Utlapalli forest area with his sister. Unfortunately, a landmine planted by the Maoists exploded, seriously injuring his sister and causing Pandey to lose his right leg.
After receiving information about the incident, the Charla police immediately took Pandey to the Bhadrachalam Area Hospital for treatment. His sister was also shifted to a medical facility for further care. SP Rohith Raju strongly condemned the attack, calling it an act of desperation by the Maoists.
He further stated that the Maoists believe they will not survive if the agency area develops. While the police department is working to improve education, healthcare, and transport for the people in these areas, the Maoists continue to carry out violent activities that hinder progress. The SP urged people to reject such violence and support development efforts.
