The Telangana State Government is set to make important decisions in its upcoming cabinet meeting on March 6. Some key topics on the agenda include the approval of the caste census, BC (Backward Classes) quota, and SC (Scheduled Caste) classification. Additionally, the government will discuss issuing new ration cards and preparations for local body elections. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will lead the meeting.
The government is also considering holding a special session of the Assembly on March 7 and 8. This session will focus on approving the caste census and SC categorization, as well as passing laws related to the BC quota and SC classification.
Officials have been asked to submit a detailed report on the caste census, including data from the second phase, which recorded the details of families left out earlier. This report will be crucial for making decisions regarding education, jobs, and local body reservations for backward communities.
The caste survey findings will help the government introduce a new reservation system for BCs. The government aims to increase the representation of backward communities in local body elections. The cabinet is also expected to approve SC classification, following a recent Supreme Court judgment, ensuring that SC quotas align with the population of different sub-castes within the community.
Other important topics to be discussed include distributing ration cards, releasing funds under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, and reviewing the status of Indiramma housing. The cabinet will also address challenges related to local body elections and BC reservations. Additionally, the schedule for the Assembly’s budget session is expected to be finalized, with plans to hold it in the third week of March and complete it before the financial year ends on March 31.
