The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Telangana registered 17 bribery-related cases in February.
Out of these, 15 were trap cases, while the remaining were related to disproportionate assets. A total of 23 officials, including two outsourcing employees, were arrested. The ACB also seized Rs 7.60 lakh in cash from these cases.
In a statement, the ACB mentioned that a panchayat secretary caught in a trap case in 2014 was convicted. The court sentenced him to one year of rigorous imprisonment.
Recently, the ACB arrested a government school headmaster in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district for bribery. The accused, Tati Ravinder, was the headmaster of Zilla Parishad High School in Coolie Lane. He was caught taking a Rs 20,000 bribe to transfer an honorarium amount of Rs 30,000. This money was sanctioned under the central government’s Rani Lakshmi Bhai Athma Raksha Prashikshan scheme, a self-defense program.
Earlier, on February 24, the ACB also arrested a Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) bill collector from the Ranga Reddy unit. He and his associate were caught red-handed while allegedly accepting a Rs 45,000 bribe.
