Former MLA and BJP state vice-president NVSS Prabhakar has called for a judicial inquiry into the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel project. Speaking to the media on Friday, he accused the Congress-led government of working with the contracting agency while also increasing budget allocations for the project.

Prabhakar claimed that the Congress government has brought back contractors whose credentials were previously questioned. He alleged that two cabinet ministers were pushing to restart projects that had been stalled for eight years and handed them over to a contractor who was reportedly blacklisted in the past.

He also expressed concerns about the safety of the project. According to him, experts had warned about the “delicate” and “dangerous” conditions of the terrain and environment at the project site. Despite these warnings, the government still decided to proceed with the project.

Prabhakar further alleged that the Congress government ignored expert opinions and safety concerns when reviving the project. He blamed the two cabinet ministers for prioritizing their personal interests over public safety, putting the lives of local residents at risk.
