Tension During MLC Polling in Khammam
A mild tension occurred in Khammam on Thursday during the MLC elections. A clash between BJP and CPM leaders led to the arrest of some BJP leaders.
A large group of BJP leaders and activists, led by Khammam district president Galla Satyanarayana, gathered at the polling stations. They urged voters to support their candidate, Puli Sarvottam Reddy, for the Khammam-Nalgonda-Warangal Teachers MLC constituency.
Their actions angered members of the TSUTF Union, leading to a heated argument. The situation worsened when BJP leaders claimed that their party members were attacked. They demanded an apology from their rivals.
The argument quickly turned into a physical fight between BJP and CPM leaders. Some tents at the polling site were damaged during the scuffle. The police had to step in to control the situation and separate both groups.
Galla Satyanarayana questioned why the police removed BJP banners while allowing CPM-related union banners to remain. He also objected to the arrest of Khammam Assembly convener Allika Anjaiah and demanded action against others who violated the law.
