The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a raid at the Bhainsa Excise CI office in Nirmal district on Tuesday. During the operation, they caught Excise Sub-Inspector (SI) Nirmala and Constable Sujatha red-handed while accepting a bribe.
The bribe was taken from a toddy (palm wine) trader named Subhash Goud. According to ACB officials, SI Nirmala had demanded the bribe in connection with Goud’s toddy business. To receive the money, she used Constable Sujatha as an intermediary.
During the raid, Constable Sujatha was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe on behalf of SI Nirmala. Following this, both officers were taken into custody by the ACB.
The ACB operation was led by Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) Ramanamurthy and Vijay Kumar, along with Inspector Kiran Sami. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
