Justice Kunuru Lakshman of the Telangana High Court heard a petition filed by K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), on Tuesday. The court issued notices to the Telangana State government and Congress MP M. Anil Kumar Yadav, asking them to respond by March 18.

The issue began when MP Anil Kumar Yadav filed a complaint at the Saifabad Police Station on August 20, 2024. He claimed that KTR had posted an offensive comment on his social media account (@KTRBRS) against Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. In his post, KTR referred to the CM as “Cheap Minister Revanth” and stated that his party would “clear out the trash from the surroundings of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat” once they returned to power. He also accused Revanth Reddy of being a “Delhi Ghulam” (a servant of Delhi) who did not understand Telangana’s pride and self-respect.

Following the complaint, the police registered an FIR (No. 321 of 2024) under sections 352 and 353(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Yadav argued that KTR’s remarks were intentional, defamatory, and harmed the Chief Minister’s reputation.

In response, KTR approached the court, requesting that the FIR be dismissed and all legal proceedings, including his possible arrest, be halted. The court has adjourned the case for now, allowing time for counter-affidavits to be filed.
