CM Revanth Reddy Visits Delhi to Finalize MLC Candidates and Meet PM Modi
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy traveled to Delhi on Tuesday evening to meet with the Congress leadership. His visit aims to finalize the party’s candidates for the upcoming MLC elections, which are scheduled for March 20. These elections will fill five MLA quota seats.
During his stay in Delhi, the Chief Minister will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Along with him, Minister Sridhar Babu, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, DGP Jithender, and other officials from the Chief Minister’s Office will attend the meeting. Key issues on the agenda include increasing the number of IPS cadre posts in Telangana, securing central funds for the Musi River Front Project, and extending the Hyderabad Metro Rail.
After meeting the Prime Minister, Revanth Reddy will hold discussions with the Congress high command to finalize the names of candidates for the MLC polls. The tenure of five current MLCs—Mohammad Mahmood Ali, Satyavati Rathod, Seri Subhash Reddy, Mallesham Yagi, and Mirza Riazul Hasan Effendi—will end on March 29, making way for new members. Meanwhile, intense competition has begun within the Congress, with nearly 20 aspirants seeking a spot in the elections.
Some of the prominent names being considered include Addanki Dayakar, former MLAs T Jagga Reddy and S A Sampath Kumar, senior leader Jeevan Reddy, Bellaiah Naik, Patel Ramesh Reddy, former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, and Mohammed Ali Shabbir, who is currently a government advisor.
The election process will officially begin with the notification on March 3. Candidates can submit their nominations until March 10, and scrutiny will take place on March 11. The last date for withdrawing nominations is March 13. Voting will be held on March 20 from 9 am to 4 pm, followed by the counting of votes at 5 pm on the same day. The entire election process is expected to conclude by March 24.
