Revanth Reddy Accuses BRS and BJP of Secret Alliance Ahead of MLC Elections

Nizamabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of having a secret understanding ahead of the MLC elections on February 27.

Speaking at a campaign meeting in Nizamabad on Monday, Revanth Reddy highlighted various welfare schemes introduced by his government. These include free bus travel for women, a crop loan waiver, a caste survey, and Scheduled Caste (SC) classification. He urged voters to support the Congress only if they believed these schemes were being properly implemented.

The Chief Minister pointed out that graduates played a key role in the struggle for a separate Telangana. However, he claimed that after coming to power, the BRS did nothing for them. He also criticized the BRS for changing its name and distancing itself from the Telangana movement. He alleged that the party, unable to accept electoral defeat, was now falsely accusing the Congress of inaction and conspiring against his government with the BJP’s help.

Revanth Reddy further alleged that the BRS, unable to field a candidate in the MLC elections, was secretly supporting the BJP. He urged graduate voters to “read between the lines” and recognize that the BRS was indirectly asking them to vote for the BJP candidate.

Responding to Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s remarks about why the Congress government had not taken action against BRS leaders K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) and K T Rama Rao (KTR), Revanth Reddy said it was the Centre’s responsibility to extradite the accused in the phone-tapping case from the US. He mentioned that the Telangana government had already issued a Red Corner Notice and sent it to the Union Home Ministry.

The Chief Minister also accused the BJP of protecting BRS leaders in exchange for their support in the MLC elections. He questioned whether BJP leaders Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay were obstructing the arrest of KCR, KTR, and Harish Rao in the phone-tapping case.

Revanth Reddy criticized the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for not arresting KTR in connection with the Formula E racing case or making any arrests in the alleged sheep distribution scam, despite launching investigations and seizing relevant files.

He also accused Union Minister G Kishan Reddy of blocking the expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project by pressuring other Union Ministers. He pointed out that while the BJP-led NDA government funded projects like the Sabarmati Riverfront Development and the Namami Gange project, it did not allocate funds for the redevelopment of the Musi River in Hyderabad. He questioned Kishan Reddy’s credibility in seeking votes when he had “failed” to secure clearances for key development projects in Telangana.
