Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao assured farmers that there is no shortage of urea in the state. He stated that farmers do not need to worry about the availability of the fertilizer.
During a teleconference with agricultural officials, the minister explained that the demand for urea has increased this Yasangi season. Last year, by February 20, farmers had purchased 6.9 lakh metric tons of urea. However, this year, they have already purchased 8.80 lakh metric tons.
The state was supposed to receive 8.54 lakh metric tons of urea from the Central government, but so far, only 6.81 lakh metric tons have arrived. The minister assured that the state government is in constant contact with the Center to address this issue.
Although 1.60 lakh metric tons of urea is yet to be supplied, the state government is taking necessary steps. Officials have already met with Central government representatives, and the minister himself has written to the concerned ministers, urging them to send the allocated fertilizers to Telangana immediately.
