Dr. Syeda Azeem Unnisa, an Assistant Professor at Osmania University, has been appointed as a member of the Water Quality Committee by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). She is also the Chairperson of the Board of Studies in the Department of Environmental Science at the University College of Science.
Osmania University officials stated that her selection is a recognition of her research and expertise in environmental science. As a committee member, she will help set national water quality standards to ensure safe and sustainable water management in India.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is India’s national body responsible for developing and publishing quality standards. It also manages laboratory accreditation, Hallmarking, consumer awareness programs, and quality assurance initiatives. BIS represents India in global organizations such as the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
