Telangana School Education Secretary Dr. Yogita Rana, along with senior officials from the education department, visited the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD) in Dehradun on Wednesday.
During the visit, the delegation explored various departments of NIEPVD. They visited the Model School for Visually Impaired Students and the Special Education Department. Other areas they examined included the Administrative Building, Braille Press, Training Centre for the Adult Blind (TCAB), Braille Appliance Manufacturing (BAM), Low Vision Unit, Boys and Girls Hostels, E-Library, and Braille Library.
Dr. Yogita Rana emphasized the institution’s focus on computer education, science laboratories, and creating a barrier-free environment. She also highlighted the importance of adaptive teaching materials, hostel management, AI-based assistive technology, and special courses for students with vision impairment.
She stated that similar efforts would be made to improve special education in Telangana. A senior officer added that this visit is expected to help enhance educational policies, infrastructure, and learning methods for visually impaired students in the state.
